Soundfirm wins at the ASSG awards!

A great day had by all on Sunday 25th November at the ASSG awards. A big congratulations to all the winners and nominees. "Wish You Were Here", "Killer Elite" and "The Mystery Of A Hansom Cab" all picked up awards on the day. Well done to everyone involved in those great projects including Chris Goodes, Andy Wright, Glenn Newnham, James Harvey, Brooke Trezise, Sam Petty,  Andrew Neil, Pete Smith, Mario Vaccaro, Adam Connelly and a HUGE congratulations to Roger Savage who picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award!

Roger Savage receives lifetime achievement award at Australian Screen Sound Guild Awards

Roger Savage, Soundfirm’s founder and CEO has been recognized for his achievements by the Australian Screen Sound Guild Awards. The Syd Butterworth Lifetime Achievement Award went to Sound Mixer, Savage, at a ceremony last night at Sydney’s The Establishment.

A 40-year veteran of the Australian film industry, Savage has been a fierce defender of the Australian creative industries for his whole career. His first film was a surf documentary about the 1970 World Championship, "Getting Back To Nothing", directed by Tim Burstall in 1971. His next film was "Mad Max" in 1979, as well as other classics "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" and "Crocodile Dundee". More recently Savage has worked on "Mao’s Last Dancer" and "Mental".

His company, Soundfirm, is Australia's most awarded, independent post production facility, with resources in Melbourne, Sydney and Beijing.

"Mental" to close MIFF 2012!

Soundfirm is thrilled that "Mental" will close the Melbourne International Film Festival this year! "Mental" pairs up director PJ Hogan and Toni Collette for the first time since "Muriel's Wedding" alongside a great line up of Australian actors including Anthony LaPaglia, Rebecca Gibney, Caroline Goodall, Kerri Fox and Deborah Mailman. Nervous breakdowns, bipolar, personality disorders and schizophrenia are all part of the daily discussions at the Moochmore house. Mix that with a philandering father and a hot-headed hitchhiker it makes for one extremely entertaining and hilarious film! "Mental" is superbly edited by Jill Bilcock and it features an excellent sound track thanks to Roger Savage, Chris Goodes, Glenn Newnham, Steve Burgess, James Harvey, Adam Connelly, Mario Vaccaro, Sandy Milne and Simon Rosenberg. Coming to cinemas later this year.


Soundfirm wins an MPSE Golden Reel for "The Flowers of War"

Congratulations to the team that worked on Zhang Yimou's latest film "The Flowers of War" for picking up a Goldren Reel on the weekend for best sound editing on a foreign language film! Soundfirm Melbourne, Sydney and Beijing collaborated on this major motion picture which was the first film to be mixed in 7.1 in Australia. "The Flowers of War" starring Christian Bale will be out in cinemas later this year.
