NEW TECHNICAL OPS MANAGER JOINS

INDUSTRY LEADING LIGHT JOINS THE SOUNDFIRM TEAM

Soundfirm are delighted to announce the appointment of Ross Mitchell to the role of Technical Operations Manager.  Ross will be based at Soundfirm’s Port Melbourne facility, but will have  operational responsibilities across Soundfirm’s facilities in New South Wales and Victoria.

Ross joins from Deluxe Australia, where is spent the last 9 years supervising the image acquisition/rushes-to-mastering pipeline within the Deluxe Group, on shows such as ‘Killing Time,’ ‘The Slap’, 'Cut Snake’, ‘Partisan’, ‘The Moon and the Sun’ and ‘Holding The Man’.

Ross entered the industry in 1996, at Alpha Cine in Vancouver, before returning to his native Australia at Cinevex’s Optical Effects Department in 1998.  He moved into digital intermediate workflows in 2006, when Cinevex opened their digital department, and remained with the company throughout the Deluxe Group acquisition in 2009; latterly taking up the role of ‘Head of Central Operations’ at Deluxe Australia.

Soundfirm CEO, Roger Savage, said “Ross brings 19 years of industry experience to the table and I am really delighted to welcome him to the team.  We are looking forward to him playing a central role in the picture post production side of our business; working closely with the existing team to ensure accurate and reliable delivery of film and television projects.”

Ross said “I am really excited by the prospect of this new opportunity and to be working with the Soundfirm team. They are known as a passionate and talented bunch, with tonnes of experience in collaborating with film-makers.  I’m looking forward to offering their clients end-to-end technical guidance, from pre-production, through to the final delivery of media to broadcasters and distributors.”

Glitch

I’ve been working with Soundfirm for over thirty years and it’s always a pleasure.  The facility complies with the most rigorous international standards, the working environment is very comfortable and the team are friendly, diligent, patient with Producers and attuned to the creative as well as the financial needs of your show.  And the management team always communicate clearly so there are no surprises.  I look forward to returning soon”.  Ewan Burnett – Producer - 'Glitch.'

Soundfirm has completed the sound post production for the ABC’s 6-part drama series, ‘Glitch,’ due to air on the 9th July 2015 in Australia.

‘Glitch’ follows Sergeant Hayes (Patrick Brammall), whose world is turned upside down by a discovery that he makes on a call-out to the Yoorana cemetery: - six people with no memory of their identities.  Who are they and what has happened to them?

Soundfirm’s team crafted a sound track that really adds to the narrative, providing additional drama with the clever use and mix of dialogues, music, FX and atmospheres.

Helen Field, Soundfirm’s Senior Producer, said “it has been fantastic to work with Ewan, Louise and the Matchbox Pictures team on ‘Glitch.” “The sound crew here been an integral part of the creative team to help bring this series to life and we are excited to see how it  captures the public’s imagination.”

Glitch starts Thursday July 9 on ABC. #GlitchTV

“Soundfirm were both investors and the post production house for ‘Women He’s Undressed.’  The crew at Soundfirm were dedicated to the task of completing the film on time and the result is excellent.  I am grateful to the excellent staff at Soundfirm Sydney for their professionalism and dedication...”

Damien Parer- Producer

Soundfirm have completed the full picture and sound post production on Gillian Armstrong’s ‘Women He’s Undressed,’ a feature-length documentary that chronicles the life of Academy Award winning Australian designer Orry-Kelly.  Unfamiliar at home, the Kiama born designer created wardrobes for the silver screen from the 1930s to 1960s.  Kelly’s design credits include; Hollywood’s biggest studios, most memorable stars, and films hits such as ‘Some Like it Hot’ and ‘An American in Paris.’

Soundfirm CEO, Roger Savage, said “we were involved in this film from a very early stage, both as investors in it, and as the picture and sound post production facility. Our team in Sydney have done a fantastic job, especially with their treatment and management of the archive content.  We’re confident that the story of Kelly’s life will have tremendous appeal, and do very well.”

Paul Willey, General Manager, added: “this film is a great example of the holistic approach we are now taking when working with Producers and Directors: from the closing of production finance, to the management of specialist in-house and local freelance talent, we’re genuinely coming on board as an integral part of the team, from development to delivery.”
